Carlinville Catalpa Tree
Catalpa Tree (Heinz Funeral Home/St. Paul’s United Church of Christ -202 East Main Street)
This tree is a champion in the community and won high honors in a book of Champion Illinois Trees by Larry Mahon. It is a Northern Catalpa that produces prolifically. Its cigar shaped pods reproduce easily and have been germinated and grown locally in parks, yards of residences and in what is now Catalpa Row (Carlinville Plaza).
